Behind The Kindness Symbol

Based upon the inspiration of world recognized symbols, the power of non-verbal communication, and a universal craving for kindness, Kimberly Ergul was inspired to create a symbol for kindness where each element of the design has meaning. Kimberly’s hope is that the kindness symbol will be a reminder for us to share a smile with those we pass, reach out to someone who is lonely, lend a helping hand, and express gratitude. Kindness encourages us to highlight our similarities rather than focus on our differences. Daily habits become common behavior, so “Be Mindful to be Kindful.”

The kindness symbol defined:

  • The color blue represents unity and the color white represents harmony.

  • The heart represents love and compassion and the olive branch represents the international symbol for peace.

  • The colors of the heart each reflect the other side’s color, just as kindness reflects kindness.

  • The olive branch has its branches wrapped around the heart and symbolizes support and acceptance.

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
